Since 1979, Noyon has been twinned to Metzingen which is also twinned to Hexham.
Not far from Stuttgart, surrounded by the hills of the "Schwäbischen Alb" or Jura, it is a very pleasant small town. The villages around the town (Neuhausen for example) are also very pretty.
For many centuries, Metzingen has been reputed for its wine, as the hills all around the town are covered with vineyards basking in the sun. It is no wonder then, that its most significant architectural feature are the "Sieben Keltern" or Seven Wine-presses" where wine was made in the past.
Metzingen is also close to Tubingen, the very old and beautiful university town.

Besides, all the area around it offers to the tourist an impressive scenery, remarkable monuments and castles.
The town twinning activities between Noyon and Metzingen have been developing for a long time. They were encouraged at the beginning and then supported by school exchanges between the high schools of both towns. These school exchanges offered for nearly twenty years the opportunity to innumerable teenagers to meet, to stay at each other's houses to become and to remain friends over the years. Today, the number of people in Noyon having friends in Metzingen is really impressive.
Trips from one town to another are regularly organized and if you feel like practicing your German or like making friends in Germany, it is very simple, just contact the Noyon Metzingen Town Twinning Committee, by writing to its president : Mme Silvert, 5 rue de Gruny, 60400 Noyon. And for more information (in French) about Metzingen and the Twinning Committee
